Join me during the months of May thru September for this cyanotype private lesson. This is a 2 hour private lesson where you will learn how to make prints using the cyanotype process, a process invented in 1842. This process makes Prussian Blue indigo imprints of objects and large negatives.
You will learn the process of mixing the cyanotype chemistry from dry compounds, paper coating methods, and the process of printing.
We will be working both indoors and out for coating, exposure, and development of your prints. Your cyanotypes will be taken home with you at the end of the lesson.
Included:
Chemistry, watercolor paper, and brushes are included.
Your required materials:
Students will need to bring their own imprinting materials.
-Negatives can be contact printed to size as positives (negatives print at the exact size of the negative, so if you have a 35mm negative scan it and print it at a larger size as a negative to make a positive contact cyanotype print).
– Or bring any meaningful objects like flowers or ferns or ribbons that will print an outline of their shape.
NB: Cyanotype is a what is called a contact process, so print materials can range from small physical objects to large format negatives.
Important: If you would like to use a digital image of your own, you will need to prepare a negative print out in advance. Please email for further instruction and I can walk you through the steps of preparing one on your own on your own printer.
