Mint Tea Developer Workshop

In this workshop, you will learn how to develop film and photographic paper using mint leaves or mint tea.
What you will need:
– Shot Film and loaded into a light-tight film developing tank prior to the start of the workshop.
To clarify this means you must shoot your film and expose it before class begins. *Melanie recommends the following film types Ilford HP5 and Kentmere 400, lower ISO films will also work well OR silver gelatin photographic paper (Ilford Multigrade Resin Coated Pearl or similar)
Equipment Needed:
– A photographic developing tank for film
– Access to a dark space (bathroom, cupboard) or film changing bag
– Access to water (sink, tap, drain etc)
– A darkroom and trays for photographic paper
– Gloves, if you have them (to protect your skin)
Materials Needed:
– Soda Crystals, such as Dri Pak soda crystals OR Arm & Hammer Soda Crystals
– Vitamin-C powder or fizzy Vitamin C tablets.
– Fixative or Salt and Water
– Mint OR another plant material.IMPORTANT: If you would like to develop alongside Melanie in the workshop and using mint, please collect and brew your mint tea around 30 mins ahead of the session.

This workshop is presented in conjunction with the exhibition Ancient Light, Melanie King will be conducting a remote and in-person mint tea film development workshop.
